November 11, 2019

  • Douglas Cervene of Fort Dodge was traveling west in the 23000 block of Iowa Highway 141 when the vehicle he was driving hit a sheet of ice and slid sideways and caused the camper he was pulling to roll. While this vehicle was in the traffic way, traffic was diverted to the inside lane. David Hemphill of Perry was traveling through the area and was rear ended by a vehicle driven by Parker Inman of Johnston, which began to slide and collided with Hemphill’s vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damage to Hemphill’s vehicle was estimated at $4,000. Damage to Inman’s vehicle was estimated at $2,000, and damage to Cervene’s vehicle and camper was estimated at $8,500.
  • Collin Malmberg of Perry was traveling north on L Avenue near the intersection of 130th Street when he lost control of his vehicle, which entered the north ditch and rolled. No injuries were reported. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $3,000.

November 12, 2019

  • Scotty Lee Hays, 29, of 1501 W. Third St., Perry, was arrested while in the Dallas County Jail on 11 counts of violation of a no-contact order.
  • Jamie Brown of Panora was leaving the parking lot of a retail store in Dallas Center when his vehicle was struck by a vehicle driven by Carissa Hood of Perry. Hood’s vehicle caused Brown’s vehicle to strike a vehicle on Iowa Highway 44 driven by Matthew Deardorff of Grimes. No injuries were reported. Damage to Deardorff’s vehicle was estimated at $4,000. Damage to Brown’s vehicle was estimated at $8,000, and damage to Hood’s vehicle was estimated at $7000. Hood was issued a citation for failure to yield upon left turn.
  • Michelle Griffith of Bridgewater was traveling west near the 105 mile marker of U.S. Interstate 80 when her vehicle struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $7,000.
  • Billy Dean Devilbiss, 35, of 204 Lucinda St., Perry, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Steven Charles Moss, 38, of 909 First St., Redfield, was arrested on warrants for probation violation on an original charge of forgery, failure to appear on an original charge of driving under suspension and failure to appear on original charges of criminal mischief and theft.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
