September 11, 2019

  • David Alan Keifer, 64, of 1608 Horse and Buggy Dr., Adel, was charged with criminal mischief while incarcerated at the Dallas County Jail.
  • Maly Sun of Stuart was traveling north in the 35000 block of Del Rio Road when she lost control of the vehicle, which entered the ditch and rolled before coming to rest on it top. No injuries were reported. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $15,000.
  • Danielle Steinberg of Adel was traveling south in the 32000 block of N Avenue and intending to turn east on 330th Street when she stopped to yield to oncoming traffic and was struck from the rear by a vehicle driven by Angelina Ocasio of Adel. Ocasio was transported to Mercy West by Dallas County EMS with neck pain. Damage to Steinberg’s vehicle was estimated at $5,000, and damage to Ocasio’s vehicle was estimated at $1,500. Ocasio was issued a citation for failure to stop in assured clear distance.
  • Vicki Johnson of Des Moines was traveling east in the 16000 block of 240th Street when she lost control of her vehicle, which entered the ditch and struck a MidAmerican Energy power pole. The collision with the power pole caused her vehicle to spin around and collide with a chain link fence surrounding a Northern Natural Gas facility. Both Johnson and her passenger sustained minor injuries and sought medical treatment on their own. Damage to Johnson’s vehicle was estimated at $8,000, and damage to the chain link fence was estimated at $1,000. Damage to the utility pole was estimated at $2,000. Johnson was issued a citation for no insurance and a warning for failure to maintain control.

  • Justin Lee Gilliland, 32, of 1014 Graceland Ave., Perry, was arrested on a warrant for probation violation on an original charge of OWI.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
