Darrell Bever, 92, of Perry passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2019, at the Rowley Memorial Masonic Community in Perry, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 31 at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Perry. Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 30 from 5-7 p.m., with a Masonic service held at 7 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery at Minburn, Iowa.

Memorials will be given to Perry Food Pantry, Raccoon River Pet Rescue or First Christian Church and may be left at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.

Darrell Lloyd Bever was born July 3, 1927, in Minburn, Iowa, to Ernest Lloyd and Hazel Marie (Harris) Bever.

He attended the Washington Township Consolidated School.

Darrell was united in marriage to Ernestine Junior Clair in Des Moines July 4, 1948.

He was an accountant for the Minburn and Adel Coop, and he farmed near Minburn.

Darrell was a member of the Otley Masonic Lodge #299, the Washington Township Restoration Project and First Christian Church, where he was active in their Community Clothes Closet.

He enjoyed playing pool, working crossword puzzles and playing Bingo at the Rowley Masonic Community.

In death he rejoins his parents, Ernest and Hazel; a son, Ronald Dean Bever; and a brother, Dean Bever.

Left to cherish Darrell’s memory are his wife, Ernestine Bever of Perry; children, Deb (“Breezie” Hart) Davis of Ferris, Texas, Steven (Donna) Bever of Des Moines, Jim (Kathy) Bever of Boone and Diane (Jim) Cox of Minburn; daughter-in-law, Corrine Bever of Panora; grandchildren, Randi Jo (Jared) Marley of Edmond, Okla., Angela (Bryan) Lesher of Centralia, Mo., Christopher (Amy Shaffer) Bever of Sarasota, Fla., Brandon Bever of Danville, W.V., Nicki (Dennis) Kimm of Grimes, Mark Wittrig of Boone, Christi Westerburg of Michigan, Jeremy (Sara) Bever of Bondurant, Angel Bever of Boone, Kathy (Earl) Bosteder of Des Moines, Bill (Megan) Lyman of Des Moines, Jessica (James Eberle) Law of Jefferson and Lindsay (Roy Hein) Stonehocker of Boone; 28 great-grandchildren, Taylor (McKenzie) Phillips, Hayden and Paisley Marley, Allison Moreau, J. T. Vavrik, Jade “Skye” Bever, Aurora and J.R. Lesher, Raevynn and Remington Benshoof, Liam Else, Logan Wells, Arabella Bever, Josh and Gabby Kimm, Brianna, Nicole and Suzy Wittrig, Athena and Zoe Bever, Trevor, Faith and Jonathon Bosteder, Aiden and Davin Lyman, Blaine Wiegel and Lyric and Zelda Eberle; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Doris Andrews of Clarion, Iowa.
