CORALVILLE — Wartburg sophomore Zane Mulder has earned DIII All-American status by reaching the semifinals, at 165 pounds, in the NWCA National Championships.

Mulder, the third seeded grappler at his weight, will face Coast Guard Academy matman and two-seed Philip Rogers in Saturday’s semifinal round. Mulder can finish no worse than in sixth place.

Kamden Goering of Luther was Mulder’s first victim, recording a pin after leading, 12-2. Mulder then pinned Neil O’Shoughnessy of Augustana, in the round of 16 before scoring an 11-4 decision over six-seed Alex Turley of Averett in the quarterfinals.

Mulder is the grandson of Vicki Van Pelt of rural Granger.
