The Dallas County Retired School Personnel Association (DCARSPA) met Sept. 5 for their annual We Don’t Have To Go Back To School brunch at the Hotel Pattee.
Guest speakers at the 2024 confab were PCSD Superintendent Clark Wicks and Perry High School Principal Brad Snowgren. Wicks spoke to the many safety additions at all of the schools for the current year, with the goal to improve not only the safety but the mental health of staff and students, and Snowgren thanked attendees, noting that he went into education because of his former teachers, some of who were present that morning.
Snowgren shared some of the successes of the sports teams and described the improved adult/student relationships between adults and students and between students and students. He said the emphasis is on helping the students realize that the staff as well as their classmates care about them as individuals.
Back-to-school brunchers included DCARSPA members Paula Allen, Linda Andorf, Jamie Blum, Judy Boorn, Barb Burkett, Holly Daniels, Sandy Eaton, Shirley Ehlers, Donna Emmert, Peg Fagen, Kris Finn, Joyce Franklin, Nancy Gardiner, Nancy Geiken, Diane Gibson, Priscilla Gomez-Stream, Mary Ann Graves, Sue Kimpston, Karen Kline, Jackie Landon, Sue Leslie, Marilyn Lynch, Laura McCord, Wanda Miller, Kathy Miner, Pat Mundy, Mary Nichols, Jolene Niemeyer, Becky Reuter, Ann Sackett, Lori Seeley, Connie Sheehy, Jan Smith, Dorothy Stoltz, Deb Stumbo and Margie Worrell.
