The Dallas County Hospital announced Thursday its Environmental Services department (EVS) received a 100 percent Top Box Scores from Patient Satisfaction Surveys over the past three months.

The hospital’s consumers were asked to rate the EVS department on the cleanliness of inpatient rooms during their hospital stay.

“Top Box Scores indicate that of all the surveys returned, the number of patients who gave our EVS department the highest score possible was 100 percent for 3 months in a row,” stated DCH Education and Service Development Manager Sally Swenson.

The 25-bed Dallas County Hospital is one of 82 hospitals in Iowa identified as Critical Access Hospitals. To qualify as a Critical Access Hospital, a facility must be located in a rural area at least 35 miles from another hospital. It must provide 24-hour emergency care, have a maximum of 25 acute care and swing beds and maintain an annual average length of stay of 96 hours or less for acute care patients.

“We are proud of the continued endeavor by our EVS staff to be sure our hospital is kept clean and comfortable for our patients who visit,” said Swenson. “The scores indicate our patients, who are in a stressful situation regarding their health, feel we are doing a great job to make the hospital a safe and healing environment.”
