DCSO patrol car crashes near Washington Township School

An SUV apparently turned in front of a passing Dallas County Sheriff's patrol car Saturday about 9 p.m. at J Avenue and the Minburn Road. The incident remains under investigation, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

A two-vehicle collision involving a Dallas County Sheriff’s office patrol car and a private vehicle occurred about 9 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of County Road P58 and County Road F31 near the Washington Township School south of Perry.

It did not appear there were any serious injuries in the crash, which is under investigation at this hour.

Both vehicles sustained serious front-end damage. Airbags deployed in the law enforcement vehicle, a Dodge Charger. The private vehicle appeared to be a station wagon.

The cause and circumstances of the mishap are unknown at this hour.

Both vehicles came to rest in the ditch on the northwest corner of the intersection beside the county recycling bins, the patrol car pointing north and the station wagon pointing south.

The Iowa State Patrol, Dallas County Sheriff’s office, Minburn Volunteer Fire Department and Dallas County EMS responded to the incident.
