Brian Alan Greif, 50, of De Soto was arrested Saturday on a Dallas County warrant for first-degree harassment and on a Dallas County warrant for failure to appear on original charges of second-degree criminal mischief and violation of a no-contact order.

A De Soto man with a lengthy criminal history of assault, harassment and criminal mischief was arrested Saturday on warrants for harassment and criminal mischief.

Brian Alan Greif, 50, of 804 Guthrie St., De Soto, was arrested on a Dallas County warrant for first-degree harassment and on a Dallas County warrant for failure to appear on original charges of second-degree criminal mischief and violation of a no-contact order.

The warrant for first-degree harassment stemmed from a Dec. 23, 2020, incident in De Soto in which Greif allegedly told an Adel man that “he was going to kill him and smash his head into the pavement” because the man’s pickup truck “was leaking oil on the parking lot of the motel” where Greif was working, according to court records.

A warrant for Greif’s arrest was ordered Dec. 30, 2020, in Dallas County District Court and served July 24.

The warrant for failure to appear on original charges of second-degree criminal mischief and violation of a no-contact order stemmed from Greif’s arrest in connection with a May 13, 2020, incident in his mother’s house in which he was allegedly “acting out after a dispute over his slamming the microwave door too hard,” according to the victim’s statement in the court records.

The victim told law enforcement that Grief allegedly went “on a rampage by destroying parts of her house,” including “an entire antique oak staircase railing,” and he allegedly inflicted “cuts in the ceiling and walls, made with what appeared to be a machete,” throughout the house, according to court records.

The victim in the May “rampage” sustained “a gash to the side of her head, a bloody swollen right eye and a sore right arm.” Both Greif and the victim claimed the injuries to the victim were the result of an accidental fall, according to court records.

A warrant for Greif’s arrest was ordered Jan. 22 in Dallas County District Court and served July 25.

Greif was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash-only bond. He is scheduled for arraignment July 29 on the charge of first-degree harassment and for a status conference July 30 in Dallas County District Court on the charge of failure to appear.

Greif was convicted of first-degree harassment 1997 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of second-degree criminal mischief in 2000 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of first-degree harassment in 2007 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of second-degree harassment in 2007 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of second-degree criminal mischief in 2017 in Dallas County District Court.
