A Denver woman was arrested early Wednesday in West Des Moines with about one-half pound of marijuana.

Alexus Lashajuan Crandall, 22, of 2225 S. Jasmine St., Denver, Colorado, was charged with controlled substance violation and failure to affix drug stamp.

The incident began about 3:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 7600 block of Office Plaza Drive N. in West Des Moines, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department made contact with Crandall, who was driving a 2020 Nissan Altima with Nebraska plates.

According to court records, a search disclosed “9 ounces of marijuana that was separately packaged into 1-ounce portions along with a digital scale in her luggage.”

Seven of the packages “were ziplock bags with Colorado dispensary labels on them,” according to court records.

Crandall is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Dec. 28 in Dallas County District Court.
