A Des Moines man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Friday in connection with a May incident in which he allegedly assaulted a Van Meter man engaged in sexual congress.
Kelly Winders, 61, was charged with assault causing bodily injury and first-degree burglary.
The incident occurred about 8:15 p.m. May 5 in the 300 block of Second Avenue in Van Meter, where Winders allegedly entered the witness’ apartment without permission and
while the witness “was engaging in sexual intercourse with the victim,” also from Van Meter, according to court records.
Winders allegedly assaulted the victim by “striking him multiple times in the back of the head, causing bodily injury,” according to court records.
A warrant for Winders’ arrest was ordered May 6 and served June 4. He was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $25,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing June 15 in Dallas County District Court.
