A Des Moines man allegedly assaulted a Perry woman late Friday in Perry by repeatedly shoving her in the course of a domestic dispute.

Stefen Christopher Jon Vigil, 33, of 133 E. Second St., Des Moines, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 11:30 p.m. Friday in the 1000 block of Graceland Avenue in Perry, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the female victim, who alleged that Vigil was “intoxicated and shoved her during an argument,” according to court records.

A witness to the incident told the officers that Vigil “did shove” the victim “first and shoved her again to the point where the” witness “had to catch” the victim “from falling down,” according to court records.

Vigil is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
