Des Moines man arrested after allegedly hitting, biting victims

Hernan de Jesus Delgado, 38, of Des Moines was arrested Monday on a charge of two counts of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness in connection with an incident Friday in Perry.

A Des Moines man was arrested on a Perry Police Department warrant Monday in connection with two alleged assaults in Perry Feb. 28.

Hernan de Jesus Delgado, 38, of 1529 King Ave., Des Moines, was charged with two counts of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness.

According to court records, the alleged assaults occurred about 3:30 p.m. Friday during an altercation in the 2800 block of First Avenue in Perry.

Delgado allegedly assaulted a female victim “by pushing her and hitting her on the shoulder,” resulting in “bruising and scratches on her shoulder,” according to court records.

Delgado allegedly assaulted a male victim “by biting him on a finger of his right hand,” causing “bruising pain to his finger and hand.”

Delgado is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled to make an initial appearance Tuesday in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
