Colezell Nicquane James, 28, of Des Moines was arrested Tuesday on a Dallas County warrant for assault causing serious injury.

A Des Moines man was arrested Tuesday on a Dallas County warrant in connection with a 2019 incident in which he allegedly broke the jaw and gave a concussion to a coworker.

Colezell Nicquane James, 28, of 1901 Lincoln Ave., Des Moines, was charged with assault causing serious injury.

The alleged assault occurred about noon on Sept. 11, 2019, in the 15800 block of Brookshire Drive in Urbandale, where James and the victim were working together for the Two Men and a Truck moving service.

According to court records, a witness said a “physical altercation” at the job site occurred when “the victim made a comment to” James, who then “went toward the victim by getting in the back of the work truck where the victim was located.”

The witness said James allegedly “punched the victim four to five times,” and the “victim suffered a broken jaw and concussion from the altercation,” according to court records.

James “admitted to punching” the victim “twice after the victim grabbed his arm,” according to court records. “The victim stated he did not remember what happened.”

A warrant for the arrest of James was ordered Dec. 9, 2019 in Dallas County District Court after James failed to appear for arraignment. James is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for arraignment April 9 in Dallas County District Court.
