A Des Moines man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Monday in connection with a Nov. 20 incident in which he allegedly assaulted his mothing in Dallas Center.
Matthew Aaron Thomas, 31, of 2400 Hickman Road, Des Moines, was charged with assault causing bodily injury.
According to court records, Thomas was involved in a physical altercation with his mother Nov. 20 outside a residence in the 300 block of 14th Street in Dallas Center, during which Thomas allegedly “threw his mother down on the ground, causing bodily injury to her hips and right hand.”
A warrant for Thomas’ arrest was ordered Nov. 26 in Dallas County District Court and served Nov. 29. Thomas is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Dec. 10 in Dallas County District Court.
Thomas was convicted of first-offense domestic abuse assault Nov. 17 in Jasper County District Court. He was convicted of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness in 2014 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of assault-use/display of a weapon in 2012 in Polk County District Court.
