Des Moines man faces multiple charges in Saturday wreck in Perry

Ben Royer of Des Moines and formerly of Perry faces numerous criminal charges stemming from a two-vehicle collision Saturday in Perry.

Charges have been filed against a Des Moines man following a two-vehicle collision Saturday afternoon on Iowa Highway 141 at Eighth Street in Perry.

Ben Royer, 30, was arrested on charges of third-offense OWI, driving while barred, driving while under revocation, operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to obey a stop sign and open container.

Four juveniles and one adult were transported from the scene of the accident to the Dallas County Hospital. A hospital spokesperson Sunday morning could release no information about the condition of those treated or even confirm they were treated or even admitted.

Royer was treated and released at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines prior to his incarceration at the Dallas County Jail pending trial, according to police.
