Des Moines suspect absconds from Clarinda inpatient treatment

Brandon Eugene Doerring, 31, of Des Moines absconded Sunday from the Zion Recovery facility in Clarinda. He was arrested April 20 on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree theft-pocket-picking, reckless driving, eluding, assault with intent of injury-peace officer and others, driving while license denied, suspended, cancelled or revoked, first-offense OWI, speeding, possession of a controlled substance and second-degree theft-motor vehicle under $10,000/over $1,000.

A Des Moines man who allegedly stole an Iowa State Patrol vehicle April 20 and led law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit across southern Dallas and northern Madison counties while handcuffed has “absconded” from the Zion Recovery facility in Clarinda.

Brandon Eugene Doerring, 31, of 1334 22nd St., Des Moines, was transported June 3 from the Dallas County Jail to the Zion Recovery facility for “inpatient treatment,” and he “absconded from the facility on or about June 6” and is “now on escape status,” according to court records.

Doerring was charged April 20 with possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree theft-pocket-picking, reckless driving, eluding, assault with intent of injury-peace officer and others, driving while license denied, suspended, cancelled or revoked, first-offense OWI, speeding, possession of a controlled substance and second-degree theft-motor vehicle under $10,000/over $1,000.

A warrant for Doerring’s arrest was ordered Tuesday in the Dallas County District Court.
