A Des Moines woman was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Tuesday in connection with a June 25 incident in which she allegedly assaulted the man she lives with in a fury.

Jeannette Marie Bear, 28, of 204 E. Wall Ave., Des Moines, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 10 p.m. June 25 in the 17000 block of Iowa Highway 141 Diagonal, where Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The deputies made contact with the victim, who “had a ripped shirt, scratch marks on his neck and a bite mark on his back” after Bear allegedly “hit the victim multiple times,” according to court records.

Bear “left the scene prior to law enforcement arrival.”  A warrant for Bear’s arrest was ordered June 28 in Dallas County District Court and served July 6.

Bear is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for arraignment Aug. 12 in Dallas County District Court.

She was convicted of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness in 2020 in Polk County District Court in an incident in which she bit her mother “on the upper right arm, causing at least two areas of skin to be missing and drew blood,” according to court records.
