A West Des Moines was arrested early Friday after she allegedly assaulted her girlfriend in their Earlham residence and then fled the scene before the arrival of law enforcement.

Angel Rose Marie Fell, 39, of Des Moines was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault with intent to inflict serious injury, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of prescription drug, open container and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The incident began about 1:45 a.m. Friday in the 35000 block of Knox Avenue in Earlham, where Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The deputies made contact with the victim, who told the deputies that Fell “punched” the victim “in the face” and “ripped some of” the victim’s “hair out, which was lying on the floor,” according to court records.

When the victim fell to the floor, Fell allegedly “grabbed a dresser drawer and repeatedly hit” the victim “in the face with the drawer,” according to court records.

Deputies observed on the victim “a large bump on her forehead from the drawer hitting her,” and the victim “was bleeding from her forehead and the back of her head, where the hair had been pulled out” and had “bruising on her right bicep,” according to court records.

Fell fled the scene before the deputies arrived, but she was later detained by officers of the West Des Moines Police Department and allegedly found to be in possession of “a green leafy substance” that field tested positive for marijuana, “a small plastic baggie with a white crystalline substance” that field tested positive for methamphetamine and a 200 milligram capsule of Benzonatate.

Fell is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $3,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 1 in Dallas County District Court.
