
A Dexter man was arrested Jan. 31 with nearly one pound of methamphetamine.
Kyle Lee Waddell, 34, of 505 Marshall St., Dexter, was charged with controlled substance violation, drug tax stamp violation, dominion/control of a firearm/offensive weapon by a felon, driving while barred and eluding.
The incident began about 5 p.m. on Jan. 31 in the 36000 block of County Road P48 south of Dexter, where a Dallas County Deputy Sheriff attempted to initiate a traffic stop of a 2021 Dodge Charger, driven by Waddell.
Waddell did not stop but allegedly continued toward Dexter, “traveling at at least 120 mph,” according to court records.
Deputies made contact with Waddell, and a search disclosed a bag filled with a “crystalline substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine” and “weighing approximately 410 grams total package weight,” according to court records.
Waddel was also found in possession of a Remington shotgun, according to court records.
Waddel is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $60,000 cash-only bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Feb. 11 in Dallas County District Court.
Waddel was convicted of possession of a controlled substance in 2014 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of possession of a controlled substance in 2014 in Madison County District Court. He was convicted of third or subsequent offense possession of a controlled substance in 2015 in Madison County District Court. He was convicted of a controlled substance violation in 2018 in Madison County District Court. He was convicted of eluding in 2020 in Dallas County District Court.
