A Dexter woman was arrested Sunday after allegedly assaulting a Dexter man in the home.

Holly Ann Russell, 38, of 322 Barton St., Dexter, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 5 p.m. in the 300 block of Barton Street in Dexter, where Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The deputies made contact with the victim, who said that when he got home, Russell “started to yell at him and strike him on his face” and “then placed her hand on his neck,” according to court records.

The deputies observed on the “two large, red marks on the left side of his neck,” and “smaller red marks were located on the victim’s chest,” according to court records. The victim’s “left ear also appeared reddened from being slapped.”

The deputies made contact with Russell, who told the deputies “that she did hit the victim on his face but did not place her hand on his neck,” according to court records.

Russell was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Feb. 2 in Dallas County District Court.
