The much-anticipated results of the Perry Chamber of Commerce fireworks fundraiser, the Big Boom Bracket Battle Showdown, were revealed Friday afternoon in front of the Fareway store in downtown Perry and the winners were . . . tied.
Finalists Eddie Diaz and J.P. Hulgan each generated donations of $1,065, and so each was treated to the high honor of . . . a pie in the face.
An anonymous last-minute donor brought the bracket battlers neck and neck and brought the Chamber very near its $2,500 goal for the fireworks fundraiser. Online donations for the event are still being accepted.
“Thank you for your donations,” said Perry Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lynsi Pasutti, “and enjoy watching these guys getting a pie in the face!”
The annual Perry Fourth of July fireworks show will be Saturday at 9:30 p.m. in Pattee Park.
