The 40 inches of snow that fell in February is melting on Iowa’s frozen ground, swelling waterways and displacing much wildlife, including deer populations.

“Keep an eye open,” the DNR Twitter feed advised. “Deer are being displaced by flooding.”

Herds along the North Raccoon River were on the move Saturday morning, with closed roads in the area giving an indication of the deer detours the animals also take.

The Perry boat ramp was accessible only by boat Saturday morning.
