Dolores Alston celebrated her 98th birthday Thursday with a show-and-tell party at the Spring Valley campus of the Perry Lutheran Homes.

Dolores Alston of Perry was entertained on her 98th birthday Thursday by a series of show-and-tell presentations by her fellow residents of the Spring Valley assisted-living campus of the Perry Lutheran Homes.

“I feel real good,” Dolores said, “and seeing all these beautiful things also helps.”

Some of the beauties shown ranged from handmade quilts and comforters by Shirley Ingram and Lois Heisler to collections of artworks by Lloyd Miller and John Summerson. Alice Hoffman said she was proud a piece of lace tatted by her mother, Bessie Flinn, in 1945.

“It’s been a wonderful show,” said Spring Valley Activity Director Juli Haberer. “People have so many wonderful things to share.”
