EARLHAM — One day after receiving a three-hit shutout from Brandon Worley, Woodward-Granger hurlers Jay Dorenkamp and Cole Theisen combined for a one-hit outing against Earlham.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]

W-G (10-2, 7-1) held only a 2-0 lead entering the sixth, when Earlham (5-9, 4-5) used their one hit — from Quinn Weber — to help set up an unearned run and close within a single tally. Three Hawk runs in the top of the seventh effectively ended the drama, with W-G recording the 5-1 WCAC victory.

Dorenkamp threw five innings, allowing a hit and two walks with one unearned run. Theisen tossed two frames of relief, issuing one walk while recording six outs.

Cardinal pitchers John Humphrey and Weber were sharp as well, with all five Hawk runs unearned. Humphrey went six innings, yielding five hits and two walks while striking out two while allowing three runs. Weber was touched for two runs on one hit and a walk while generating the final three outs.

Nick Brummond had two singles for W-G, with Theisen, Worley, Reese Jamison and Hunter Pifer recording one hit apiece.

Worley drove in two runs, with Jamison and Matt Buch each plating a run. Theisen, Worley, Pifer, Bryce Achenbach and Joe Rhodes each scored once for the guests.

W-G entertains Panorama for a WCAC varsity twin bill Thursday, and is then off until hosting Ogden Monday.
