Boone County Deputy Sheriff Nate Benjamin inspects a vehicle that left the roadway and entered the ditch in the 1900 block of L Avenue north of Woodward Sunday about 6 p.m. The driver apparently left the scene of the overturned vehicle and was found by law enforcement some distance away from the accident.

A driver apparently lost control of a pickup truck in the 1900 block of L Avenue north of Woodward about 6 p.m. Sunday and then left the scene of the overturned vehicle.

The Woodward First Responders were paged, but the call for service was cancelled when it was discovered the driver was neither in nor around the vehicle.

Boone County Deputy Sheriff Nate Benjamin inspected the vehicle, which was apparently traveling northbound on County Road R18, entered the east ditch, returned to the roadway and entered the west ditch, finally coming to rest on its passenger side and pointing southward.

Benjamin said one of his fellow deputies was with the driver of the vehicle, who apparently traveled some distance from the accident scene before law enforcement made contact.

The incident is under investigation, Benjamin said.
