A car struck a trailer early Thursday after leaving the roadway at W. Third and Rawson streets.

Perry Police Department officers were seeking the driver of a vehicle that left the roadway early Thursday and struck a trailer near 819 Rawson St. during heavy rains.

It appears the vehicle was traveling southbound on W. Third Street, which ends at Rawson Street, when it missed the turn and continued south over a lawn for about 50 feet before striking the parked trailer.

“This is a crime scene,” said Perry Police Department Officer Matt Aswegan. “It appears the vehicle carried on straight past Rawson and came to rest there.”

The number of people in the vehicle and the extent of their injuries, if any, are unknown at this hour.

The incident was reported shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday.
