The Dallas County Hospital and 21st Century Rehab partnered together to bring a Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Loan Closet to Perry, and it is now open!

The Loan Closet is located within the 21st Century Rehab Therapy department near the North Entrance of Dallas County Hospital. The loan closet is a program that rents our DME on a temporary basis to persons within the Perry community. DME(s) are often needed after illness, hospitalization, or surgery.

The cost of these items is not always covered by insurance. The new Loan Closet provides options for rental of these valued DME at no cost for a temporary timeframe.

DME is defined as any equipment that can withstand repeated use that can provide therapeutic use to persons with illnesses or medical conditions.

If you or someone you know could benefit from the loan closet, please feel free to refer to the program by contacting Caitlin McDowell, 21st Century Rehab OTR/L, at the Dallas County Hospital or by calling 515-465-7557.

What type of equipment is there? Commodes, shower chairs, tub transfer benches, walkers, wheel chairs, canes, shoe horns, sock aids, reachers, and more.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to our new program making this possible for our community. We will continue to take donations while the program is open. For donation information, please contact Cailtlin McDowell, 21st Century Rehab OTR/L, at the Dallas County Hospital or by calling 515-465-7557.

Macinzie McFarland is the marketing and business development manager at the Dallas County Hospital.
