WOODWARD — Visiting Earlham handcuffed Woodward-Granger in both ends of a WCAC doubleheader Thursday, with the Cardinals winning the opener, 10-0, in six innings before claiming a 7-0 victory in the nightcap.

A total of 41 Hawk batters came to the plate in the two games, with only Natalie Weaver and Alissa Smeltzer reaching base safely. Both had singles in the second game.

Madeline Janssen stifled the Hawk offense, pitching a total of 13 innings of scoreless ball while striking out a combined 17 batters. She did not issue a walk and allowed only the Weaver and Smeltzer singles.

The Cardinals scored twice in the bottom of the first in the first game, with five runs crossing the plate in the fifth to open a 7-0 gap. Three runs in the bottom of the sixth ended the game early.

Alli Boyle had two doubles and smacked a two-run home run to spark the Earlham attack. She scored three times while driving in three runs. Grace Voss aided the cause with three singles while also scoring three times.

Boyle was back at it in the second contest, hitting two more doubles for the Cardinals, who recorded single runs in the second and third innings before adding five runs in the top of the seventh.

Rian Jamison pitched 4-1/3 frames in the first game for W-G, allowing five runs on six hits and a walk while striking out one. Brylee Bice relieved, throwing one inning and surrendering five runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks.

Ava Peterson pitched all seven frames in the final outing. She was touched for seven runs on 14 hits and four walks while striking out three.

W-G is scheduled to visit Southeast Warren tonight before playing Saturday in the Centerville tournament.
