Earlham man arrested for allegedly strangling woman

Kirby Jay Marsh, 38, of Earlham was arrested Tuesday on charges of domestic abuse assault-strangulation with injury and interference with official acts-bodily injury.

An Earlham man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly strangling a woman in the Twin Pines Estates in rural Earlham.

Kirby Jay Marsh, 38, of 20290 Twin Pines Dr., Earlham, was charged with domestic abuse assault-impeding air/blood flow causing injury and interference with official acts-bodily injury.

The incident began about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 20200 block of Twin Pines Drive in Earlham, where Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

It appeared that Marsh “was on top of the victim” when the deputies arrived, according to court records.

The deputies intervened, and Marsh allegedly “resisted deputies who attempted to place handcuffs on him,” and “a deputy sustained bodily” in the course of detaining Marsh, according to court records.

The victim told the deputies that Marsh “placed his knee on the victim’s stomach” and “placed his forearm across the victim’s neck,” making it “difficult for the victim to breathe,” according to court records.

The deputies observed on the victim “multiple visible injuries from the incident,” according to court records.

Marsh in held in the Dallas County Jail on a $6,000 cash-only bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 27 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
