An Earlham man was killed Sunday morning when the motorcycle he was driving was struck by a pickup truck on a county blacktop about five miles south of Winterset.

An Earlham man was killed Sunday morning when the motorcycle he was driving was struck by a pickup truck on a county blacktop about five miles south of Winterset.

According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, the accident occurred about 11:15 a.m., when Kim Gardner Ferry, 68, of Earlham was traveling north on Clark Tower Road (County Road P71) on a 1983 BMW motorcycle, and Ricky Dean Kimmel, 56, of Peru was traveling south on Clark Tower Road in a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

Ferry and Kimmel were approaching the intersection of Peru Road and Kimmel turned east on Peru Road and into the path of Ferry.

Both vehicles came to rest in the intersection, according to the crash report.

The Iowa State Patrol, Madison County Sheriff’s office and Madison County EMS responded.
