Earlham tops Panorama in WCAC volleyball

PANORA — Visiting Earlham recorded a 3-1 win over Panorama Thursday in WCAC volleyball, spoiling the home opener for the Panthers.

The Cardinals won game one, 25-23, and then claimed a 25-18 win in the second game. The hosts battled back to extend the match by tallying a 25-21 win in the third game, but a 25-15 win in the fourth set settled the issue in favor of Earlham.

Maggie Woodvine led the home squad with nine kills, with Jordan Douglass adding five kills and Audrey Cmelik three. Shey Storesund had two kills, with Grace Richey and Lindsey VanGundy making one kill apiece. Emma Powell was credited with seven total blocks, with Storesund recording six.

Douglass and Storesund had eight digs apiece, with Richey having seven digs, Woodvine six, Powell five, VanGundy and Paige Cmelik four each and Audrey Cmelik one.

Douglass served 17-of-20 with three aces and Powell 15-of-16 with one ace. Van Gundy finished 11-12-2 behind the line, with Storesund 9-11-1, Woodvine 6-9-1 and Audrey Cmelik 4-5-1. Paige Cmelik was 7-of-7 and Richey 1-of-1.

Panorama returns to action Tuesday with a trip to Ogden and will then participate Saturday in the Coon Rapids-Bayard Invite.
