Early morning house fire knocked down by Perry VFD Friday

A house fire at 1601 First Ave. was fought Friday morning by the Perry Volunteer Fire Department.

A house fire early Friday in Perry brought a quick response from the Perry Volunteer Fire Department, which brought the blaze under control before major structural damage occurred.

The fire at 1601 First Ave. in Perry, on the northwest corner of Rawson Street and First Avenue, was reported at 3:09 a.m., according to the Perry Police Department.

The two-story home, owned by David Andrade, dates from 1890, according to county records.

A spokesperson for the Perry Volunteer Fire Department was unavailable for comment.

The cause of the blaze is unknown at this hour as is the extent of any injuries. The American Red Cross is assisting the victims.

The Perry Police Department also responded, along with the Dawson Station of the Perry Volunteer Fire Department, Perry First Responders and the Dallas County EMS.
