The late Edward and Wilma Collins will be honored at the 12th annual Memorial Golf Tournament at Perry Golf and Country Club on Sunday, July 6.
Eddie died in 1999, while Wilma passed away on Feb. 23rd of this year. They both were longtime members of the Perry Golf and Country Club and were married for 50 years.
Eddie had a long career as an engineer for the Milwaukee Railroad. He was also an avid golfer and served on the country club board of directors for several years. Eddie and Wilma were frequently at the Perry Golf and Country Club for Friday night dining, and they were members of the Elks Lodge. Eddie was a member of the Perry American Legion Post 85.
Wilma and Eddie were also longtime members of the St. Patrick Catholic Church. They raised four children, Jim, Nancy, Ann and Bob.
Besides her role as mother and wife, Wilma worked more than 65 years as a tax consultant and legal secretary at the Willis and Sackett law office. She was very active in the community as a longtime member of PEO and Beta Sigma Phi, and she served on the Perry Parks and Recreation Board and volunteered at the Carnegie Library Museum and the Dallas County Hospital gift shop. Wilma was a regular at the Perry Golf and Country Club for the weekly bridge game, and she was an avid bicyclist, making her daily seven-mile ride until the age of 90!
The Collinses will be honored by family and friends just prior to the tee-off of the Championship Flight’s final 9 holes. This celebration will be held in the clubhouse. The Memorial Tournament’s defending champion is Kolby Gilroy, who shot a three under total of 105 (70, 35) for the 27 holes in 2024. He is entered in this year’s tournament.

In addition to the open event, individuals who are 50-69 years of age may play in the senior division, and people who are 70 years and older may play in the super senior division.
