Eric John Bohling of Dawson

Eric John Bohling, son of Henry John Bohling and Mildred Imogene King Bohling, was born July 9, 1957, in Greenfield, Iowa, and died Feb. 25, 2017, at his home in Dawson, Iowa. He was 59 years, 7 months and 16 days old.

Eric’s funeral services was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. The Rev. Terry Carmichael of Heartland Church of Christ in Perry conducted the service. Honorary bearers were Trevor Spratt, Jason Lomax, Jammie Benshoof and Phil Dvorak. The recorded music for the service was “Grandpa Told Me So,” “Wind beneath My Wings” and “Outskirts of Heaven.”

Eric attended school at Lincoln Tech in Des Moines and graduated from Woodward High School. Eric attended Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny for truck driving courses.

He worked in his chosen field of transportation as a truck driver for Jacobson Trucking and as a mechanic for Sara Lee Bakery, to name a few.

Eric was married to Ronda Jean Pittman Lomax June 15, 1996.

They made their home in Woodward, later moving to Dawson in May 2016.

Eric was disabled in a work injury in 2000.

In better days, he loved to golf and was very good at it. Fishing was another pleasure, as well as going to flea markets, swap meets, car racing, especially drag racing, and tractor pulls. Eric was a NASCAR fan, and followed Eddy Hill as his favorite driver.

Eric was a member of Heartland Church of Christ in Perry and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Lions Club in Woodward. He served on the Woodward Volunteer Fire Department.

Eric was preceded in death by his father, Henry Bohling; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Betty Pittman.

Eric is survived by his wife, Ronda, of Dawson; his mother, Mildred Peters of Woodward; son, Jonathan Bohling of Radcliff, Iowa; step-son, Jason (Jennifer Knight) Lomax of Perry; brother, Vernon Bohling of Minnesota; sister-in-law, Nancy (Daryl) Harker of Perry; brother-in-law, Randy (Laurie) Pittman of Maple Grove, Minn.; other relatives; and friends.

Everyone was invited to a time of lunch and fellowship served by the Heartland Church of Christ ladies in the funeral home lounge immediately following the funeral service.
