Evelyn Godwin, 96, of Perry passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023, at her home in Perry, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 20 at 10 a.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa.
Grace Evelyn Godwin was born Jan. 22, 1927, in Haydock, Iowa, to William Arthur and Allie Inez (Williams) Luke.
She graduated from the Woodward High School with the class of 1947.
Evelyn was united in marriage to Leland Richard Godwin at the Woodward United Methodist Church on June 15, 1947.
Evelyn worked at Conklin Jewelers in Perry for several years.
She was a member of the Perry Bible Church.
She enjoyed bowling, and was the city champion, and fishing.
Evelyn and Lee loved to travel all over the U.S., especially to Branson, Missouri.
In death she rejoins her husband, Leland Godwin; parents, William and Allie Luke; brothers, Harold “Ben” Luke and Willie Arthur Luke Jr.; and a sister, Georgia June Luke.
Left to cherish Evelyn’s memory are her nephews, David (Joyce) Luke and Terry (Cindy) Luke; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and a sister-in-law, Inez Luke.
