The Perry Public Library’s Team Bookworm was presented with a check for $688.57 Friday morning, the result of a weeklong roundup among customers of the Perry Fareway/
Fareway Manager Travis Landgrebe presented the donation to Team Bookworm Captain Kathy Miller and team member Marlene Johnson. More than $15,000 has been raised so far for the 2017 relay, Miller said.
This year’s Relay for Life of Dallas County will be held Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Perry High School’s Dewey Field. The event has a 3 p.m. registration, with activities lasting from 4 p.m. to about 9 p.m.
Perry Community School District Superintendent Clark Wicks will speak as this year’s honorary survivor.
The evening events will include a survivor and community dinner, musical entertainment, activities involving themed laps, contests, silent auctions and other activities. The event is free and open to the public. You do not have to be on a team to attend the fundraiser, organizers said.
