ADEL — Perry gave Class 4A No. 5 ADM all the hosts wanted Wednesday but came up just short in their upset bid, falling, 3-1, in Raccoon River Conference play.
Kenzie Sutton’s solo home run sparked a two-run bottom of the second for ADM (14-2, 7-2) as the hosts grabbed an early lead.
Freshman Alyssa Kruger crunched a solo home run of her own in the fourth inning as Perry closed to within a run, but the Tigers were able to tack on a final run in the sixth while keeping the Jayettes at bay to seal the victory.
Johanna Diw, Rachel Kinney and Victoria Hegstrom had singles for Perry (4-12, 1-6) in the loss.
Emma Olejniczak allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out four.
Perry hosts Saydel tonight, with members of the Perry Girls Softball Association teams part of between-game ceremonies at the PAC. The Jayettes will then visit the Roland-Story Tournament for two games Friday and two more Saturday.
