Anyone interested in running as a candidate for a non-party political organization (NPPO) or as a non-affiliated person in the Nov. 8 general election may pick up nomination papers and affidavits of candidacy in the Dallas County Auditor’s office at 210 N. 10th St. in Adel, Dallas County Auditor Julia Helm has announced.

Helm said the filing period for NPPO candidates and non-affiliated persons has changed as a result of a recent federal court order. The first day for non-party candidates and township trustees to file for the general election is Monday, Aug. 8, and the deadline to file is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31.

As a reminder, the last day to file for the Dallas Soil and Water Commission and Ag-Extension is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, Helm said. If you have already filed papers to be on the general election ballot, you do not need to refile.

Open positions on the general election ballot in Dallas County include:

  • Dallas County Supervisor District 1
  • Dallas County Supervisor District 3
  • Dallas County Treasurer
  • Dallas County Recorder
  • Dallas County Attorney
  • Linn Township Trustees
  • Dallas County Hospital Board
