A steady stream of family, friends and well wishers gathered Thursday at the dental clinic of Dr. Dan Finn in order to wish him and Kris Finn, his wife, congratulations on rounding out their successful careers.
The Finns moved to Perry in 1990 with their three young children, and Dan joined the dental practice of Dr. Michael Brosnahan. Finn carried on after his partner’s tragic death in 2005, and many current and former patients visited Thursday to thank him for his attentive care over the years.
Kris Finn also retired this year after teaching special education at Perry High School since 1990 and in Iowa Falls for some six years before that. Finn received a notable honor May 7 when she was presented with a prestigious educational award, the Golden Apple Award, from a West Des Moines insurance company and a Des Moines television station in ceremonies at the high school.
“Kris and I will remain in Perry and do some travelling and chase grandkids,” Dan Finn said.
The open house was also a welcome-to-Perry party for Lake City native Dr. David Schrad, who is joining Finn’s practice, which he sold to Summit Dental of Ankeny in 2023.
Schrad received a D.D.S. degree in 1996 from the dental school at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He opened City View Dental in Omaha in 2016 after practicing in various Nebraska cities.
