Fire damages houses at corner of W. Third Street, Dewey Avenue

A garage fire spread to a neighboring residence Wednesday afternoon at W. Third Street and Dewey Avenue in Perry.

No injuries were reported in the blaze, which was reported about 5:15 p.m. in the garage of the residence at 1624 W. Third St.

The Perry Volunteer Fire Department is battling the blaze at this hour, with mutual aid from the Bouton and Woodward departments.

A motor vehicle was destroyed that was parked outside the garage. A power line was also downed as a result of the fire.

The house at 911 Dewey St., which stands directly east of the house on Third Street, also sustained fire damage to its garage and apparent smoke damage throughout the structure.

The 128-year-old house at 1624 W. Third St. is owned by Randall and Christy Barton, according to county records. The 75-year-old house at 911 Dewey Ave. is owned by Randy Dawson.
