Public safety agents responded to a reported house fire Friday afternoon in the 2600 block of Hiawatha Street.

A fire was reported in a Perry residence Friday afternoon, but a thorough search by the Perry Volunteer Fire Department disclosed no definite source for the odor of smoke.

An officer of the Perry Police Department was first on the scene at the home in the 2600 block of Hiawatha Street about 2:45 p.m. The officer was followed soon after by the Perry Volunteer Fire Department.
