The board of directors of the Perry-Area Food Pantry received a grant Tuesday from the First Interstate Bank in Perry.
Sarah Cerwinske, First Interstate Bank financial services advisor, presented the $3,000 check to Tim Farmer, chair of the pantry board. Cerwinske is also the secretary of the pantry board.
The generosity is well timed, according to Pantry Site Director Lou Hoger, because recent months have seen a sharp rise in the numbers of people using the services on the pantry.
Other pantry board members on hand to celebrate the gift were Jeffry Fuentes, Steve Golay, Rosa Gonzalez, Margaret Harden, Gustaf Henrici, Lois Hoger, Lou Hoger and Carol Johnson.
The nonprofit Perry Emergency Food Council, which operates the food pantry, was founded in 1981.
