First public meeting on school bond referendum tonight

The first of three public meetings designed to inform school district voters about the details of the Feb. 5 bond referendum will be held tonight, Jan. 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the Perry Performing Arts Center at 1200 18th St.

Perry Community School District Superintendent Clark Wicks will present information about the proposed $6.5 million project to double the size of the Perry High School Industrial Technology Department and add an all-purpose/wrestling room on the north side of the 18th Street campus.

Wicks’ just-the-facts presentations are intended to be purely informational. The Vote Yes for Perry Kids advocacy committee has also produced material designed to encourage support for the project.

The second public meeting is set for Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 6:30 p.m., and the third meeting is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 1 at 5 p.m.
