Five Hawk netters earn All-WCAC recognition

WOODWARD — A quintet of Woodward-Granger volleyballers recently gained status as All-WCAC selections. The Hawks finished 12-15 overall, but were 7-3 in conference play.

Senior Elly Polich was named to the First Team, with senior Natalie Weaver and junior Darby Nixon selected for the Second Team while junior Brayten Ashman and senior Faith Keuhl were both placed on the Honorable Mention list. Statistics used for All-WCAC recognition are from conference matches only.

Polich had 118 kills and 83 assists for the W-G offense. She had 94 digs, two solo blocks and three assisted blocks. Polich was 104-of-115 serving (90.4 percent) with 18 aces.

Weaver had 84 kills, 15 assists and 88 digs while making two full blocks and seven assisted rejections. She was 98-118-32 (83.1 percent) behind the line.

Nixon, the libero player, had only four kills but added 19 assists and 112 digs and served 93-103 (90.3 percent) with 14 aces.

Ashman tallied 19 kills and seven assists along with 13 digs while leading the team with nine solo and nine assisted blocks. She was 92-101-11 (91.1) serving.

Keuhl was outstanding as a server, connecting on 96-of-97 attempts with 14 aces. She noteched 45 digs and 15 assists along with a pair of kills.

The team was a combined 617-692-111 (89.2 percent) serving in WCAC play. The Hawks were coached by Virginia Polich.
