Flags ordered at half-staff in honor of Chief Justice Mark Cady

Iowa Supreme Court Chief Justice Mark Cady testified Oct. 4 before the Iowa Senate Government Oversight Committee. He died Friday near his Des Moines home.

DES MOINES, Iowa – Gov. Kim Reynolds has ordered all flags in Iowa to be lowered to half-staff from Saturday, Nov. 16th until sunset on the day of Iowa Supreme Court Justice Mark Cady’s memorial service.

Cady died Friday, Nov. 15. He was 66. He is survived by his wife, Becky, two children and four grandchildren.

The memorial service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 10 a.m. at the Knapp Center on Drake University.

Flags will be at half-staff on the State Capitol Building and on flag displays in the Capitol Complex in honor and remembrance of Cady. Flags will also be half-staff on all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state.

Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flags at half-staff for the same length of time, the governor urged.
