A former Perry man was arrested in the parking lot of a West Des Moines motel Friday night after a West Des Moines Police Officer found him in possession of about one ounce of methamphetamine.
Sean Robert Harrington, 25, of 2118 23rd St., Des Moines, was charged with a controlled substance violation and failure to affix a drug stamp.
According to court records, the patrolling police officer noticed a male and female sitting in a pickup truck outside the Motel 6 on Office Plaza Drive in West Des Moines about 5:15 p.m. Friday. The officer made contract with the couple and asked to see their identification.
Harrington told the police officer “that his ID was in his backpack in the back of the pickup,” according to court records. When he got out of the truck, “a glass methamphetamine (pipe) hit the ground.”
A search of Harrington’s person produced a baggie with about 26 grams of methamphetamine and a digital scale, the court documents said. Harrington told the police officer “that he intended to sell the methamphetamine.”
Harrington is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond in the Dallas County Jail. He is scheduled to appear Monday at 9 a.m. before a Dallas County Magistrate.
Harrington was convicted in October 2014 for first-offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana and in May 2017 of second-offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana.
