Former Perry superintendent Ubben honored by IHSAA

DES MOINES — The IHSAA recognized a career of contributions toward improving the excellence of education by honoring former Perry superintendent Lynn Ubben with a School Administrator Award. Ubben was presented the award Friday at Wells Fargo Arena during ceremonies at halftime of the Class 4A Boys State Basketball Championship.

Ubben graduated from Allison-Bristow in 1973 and Morningside College in 1976. She began her career as a teacher and coach at Fredericksburg, North Fayette and South Tama.

Ubben was an administrator at Central Clinton, Iowa Falls, Winfield-Mt. Union and, finally, Perry. She finished her 41-year career by serving as Perry superintendent from 2009 until her retirement in 2017.

She and husband Dave have a son, Mitch (Kelli) and a daughter, Molly (Jamie) Norton. They are the proud grandparents of twin grandsons Jace and Zeke.
