Former Perry wrestler on title-winning team

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The NCAA Division III tournament was held March 11-12 in Cedar Rapids.

Wartburg College won the team crows with 79 points, just edging Wabash College (78) for top honors. Augsburg University and North Central College each scored 62.5 team points to divide third-place honors. The 78 points are the lowest title-winning sum since 1994.

Former Perry High School grappler Justin Stammer, a sophomore currently wrestles for the Knights. He was 2-3 this season in limited action at 157 pounds.

The Knights have now won 15 DIII national titles, with head coach Eric Keller 198-8 in his 12 years. Wartburg had won a record 14th title in 2018; both the 2020 and 2021 national tourneys were cancelled.
