STORM LAKE — Buena Vista University volleyball standout Maddie Bardole was voted by the league coaches as the 2015 IIAC MVP. The junior and former Woodward-Granger star was the IIAC Freshman of the Year in 2013 and was a First Team All-IIAC pick last year.

Bardole finished the year ranked second on the team in kills (459) and digs (409). She already held the school record for kills in a single season (614) set last year, but this year became the program’s all-time leader by surpassing the previous mark of 1,312 — a mark which had stood since 2006.

In Iowa Conference play this year, Bardole ranked second in the league in kills (113) and kills per set (4.19) while ranking sixth in hitting percentage (.317). She also set a school single-match record with a .750 hitting percentage during the team’s 3-0 sweep of Coe College. Bardole finished that match with 16 kills and only one error in 20 total attempts.

Her 20 double-doubles this season ranked third among IIAC players, and she totaled at least 10 kills in 28 of her 34 matches played.

Buena Vista finished 18-16 overall and tied for third in the Iowa Conference regular season standings. It had its bid for a second straight IIAC Tournament Championship match appearance come up just short when it fell in five sets at second-seed Loras on Nov. 5.
