Four elementary students test positive Saturday; 12 quarantined

Four Perry Elementary School students tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, Saturday, Dec. 19, according to PCSD Superintendent Clark Wicks.

In addition, 12 students entered 14-day quarantined, Wicks said.

All students and families in contact with the students have been notified, he said, and all other students can attend classes as normal.

The school district’s current positive case count is 11 students and two adults, a prevalence rate of .007.

The SARS-CoV-2 virus has infected 34 students and eight staff members since classes began Aug. 19 in the PCSD, according to communications from the PCSD. The list of cases follows.

The current population of students and staff in the Perry Community School District numbers about 1,801, including about 1,400 students receiving onsite instruction and about 200 receiving off-site instruction.
